Job Seeker Information and Registration Process
Registration
When you register, you are automatically able to sign-up for any of our fairs in the Pacific Northwest. You can also sign-up for more than one fair, if we've scheduled them. (Usually we have the date for an upcoming fair pinned down and available for you to sign-up roughly six weeks prior to that fair.) You can visit the site any time that you like to update your profile and skill information and sign-up for future fairs.
Note: Registering does not automatically sign you up for our career fairs; although, you must register before you can sign-up for a career fair.
NameBlockTM
If you are currently employed and looking "quietly" for something better, then you want NameBlockTM This new capability keeps your name, e-mail address, and resume(s) private, while still allowing interested employers and recruiters to use the PacificNWTech Job Seeker Search Tool and contact you by e-mail if there is a match. If you have chosen NameBlock, they will only see an ID number and our PacificNWTech Server will confidentially auto-generate e-mail to you, complete with job description and the employer's contact information. So you know who they are, but they don't know you unless you choose to pursue the opportunity. (Note: If you choose NameBlock, Career Fair badges will have a unique ID code printed on them, instead of your name, that our registration staff can confidentially match to you when you arrive.)
Job Types
Employers and recruiters at our career fairs hire for full-time, intern, and contract positions.
Registration is Required
All
Job Seekers must register prior to attending the PacificNWTech Career Fair.
Due to huge demand and a strict "fire marshall" imposed limit, this
career fair is strictly registration only on a first come - first
served basis.
Registration Limited to Educated and Experienced Professionals
Job Seekers that wish to attend this event must either be either a current college or university student or have a combination of
an advanced degree (Bachelors or higher) and extensive skills and
experience in at least one of the targeted job categories.
Career Fair Registration
To
register for the career fair, you will be required to provide the
following:
- Name
- E-mail address
- Resume(s) in Microsoft Word format. You can submit up
to four different resumes, targeted at your primary job categories.
- Take a self assesment skill survey
After you submit your registration and self assessment, you will be given the option of having the system send you a confirmation e-mail on Step 6.
Once you have completed the registration process, you will be able to go to the Job Seeker Home page, that only becomes visible after you've registered. At the bottom of this page, you'll see a listing of the career fairs for which you are registered and the associated time slots that you've chosen. You can visit the Job Seeker Home Page at any time to change your profile, skill assessment answers, as well as sign-up for future career fairs.
We will release your resume and survey
results only if you specifically indicate that you agree to release
them, in which case they will only be released to the attending
companies and recruiters upon their specific request. Otherwise, we
will keep your survey
results strictly confidential.
Time Slot Assignments:
Time slots are necessary because the rooms have strict fire
marshall imposed limit on the number of people that can be there at any
one time. You will be able to select a preferred time slot.
If this time slot is full, you will be assigned the next available time
slot. You are
expected to leave the job fair after your time slot hour has elapsed, unless you are listening to one of the speakers that typically are assigned to nearby rooms.
Name Badges: When
you arrive, there will be a name badge with your name on a table near
the door of the room. The name badge will list one to four skill
categories and a percentage score next to each, with all scores summing
to 100%.
Skill Assessment Survey
Computations: The survey results
are computed based on a relaxed formula that is designed specifically
to ensure that you will qualify for at least one of the skill
categories. Results are biased so that you will not qualify for
more than four categories. Your years of experience count much
more heavily than your expertise with a single skill. You will
notice that some skill questions are listed in more than one
category. You can take two different approaches to answering
these questions.
(1) Answer the self assessment survey
completely. Use this approach if you want to apply to a
wide range of jobs that may fall into more than one category or if you
are unsure of what job categories you are qualified for. I was
initially surprised to find that I had many of the required skills for
SalesB2B, because I have spent much of my career in Software
Development Management and Product Marketing.
(2) Answer
just the job categories that you would like to work in.
Use this approach if you are targetting your job search and you are
certain that you only want to apply for jobs in particular job
categories. By answering just the skill questions in your
targetted job categories, you ensure that the results of the self
assessment survey will list your favored job categories.
